Hey all, I’ve been dabbling in graphic design for a while now, mostly for small businesses, and I’ve decided to take a stab at creating my own logo. Here’s the thing, though: I’ve noticed that a lot of amateur logos (and honestly, even some professional ones) just don’t seem right. Sometimes the fonts clash, or the design feels cluttered, and I really don’t want to fall into those same traps. Do any of you have advice on what not to do when designing a logo? I stumbled across this article on logo mistakes but wanted to see if anyone here has firsthand experience or other tips before I dive in. Thanks in advance!

Hey! That’s a great question, and you’re smart to think about the potential pitfalls before starting your logo design. I’ve been doing graphic design for a while, and trust me, avoiding the common mistakes is half the battle. The article on logo mistakes that you mentioned is actually spot-on! It talks about some big issues like overcomplicating the design, which is super common. People often try to cram too many ideas into one logo, making it hard to read or recognize. Another major one is using trendy elements. Sure, trends are fun now, but they can make your logo look outdated in a few years. Oh, and don’t forget the importance of scalability — a logo needs to look good whether it’s on a business card or a billboard.
